In the Garden of Poetry

Poetry, painting and gardens just go together. One seed blossoms forth into a thousand more seeds. A poem invites infinite an infinite play between meaning and interpretation. Gardens are places of poetry and metaphor and metamorphosis. In this painting, I offer a place of refuge, a place of abundance, a garden in the wilderness. Loosely applied paint gives impressions of light and the the whole painting is saturated in bold colors and expressive brushstrokes. A small path recedes through the woods to a small cabin inviting us into a place of solitude, a contemplative retreat.

The following is a quote from my art journal while working on this painting:

"Mixing colors and making those painterly notations of flowers in the garden, teaches me the true principle of love and care."
