"Yosemite, along with all of creation, calls us to wake up, stand up, and stop the insane destruction of the earth before it's too late.” John Dear, They Will Inherit the Earth: Making Peace and Practicing Nonviolence in a Time of Climate Change

I paint Yosemite to be wild again and to get lost in painting; to celebrate life and nature.  I paint Yosemite to explore the wilderness of my heart.  I paint Yosemite as a symbolic place in my psyche and in the American psyche.  I paint Yosemite to celebrate John Muir's ecstatic and wild declarations.  I paint Yosemite to remember that Heaven is wherever God is. God is with us here and now.  I paint Yosemite to throw off the shackles that ensnare and take my first steps in the light.  I paint Yosemite to hear the words, "You are my Beloved."

This painting was painted in a style similar to Bonnard, who was part of the Nabis Group in France in the early 20th century.  His use of color is an unabashed celebration of life. I am painting to catch up to this master artist.
